Automated tube mixing

The instrument is designed to replace manual mixing of hematology control tubes, mimicking the manual mixing techniques that follow best practices. In medical laboratories with multiple shifts, the Lewy Jennings Quality Control (QC) graph often showed a larger coefficient of variation when controls were mixed by different personnel. Our instrument helps to standardize the mixing process, ensuring consistency and accuracy in QC results.

The instrument offers a simple and efficient way to automate the mixing of hematology control tubes. After loading the control tubes and pressing the start button, the instrument initiates the warming cycle and maintains continuous airflow with a fan located at the back. The warming period can be adjusted between 15 and 30 minutes in 5-minute increments.

Once the warming cycle is complete, the tubes are mixed in a left-right rotating motion. This mixing time can be adjusted from 15 to 30 seconds in 5-second increments. Following this, the instrument performs a u-down mixing motion which can be adjusted from 8 to 20 times in increments of 4.

Upon completion of the mixing cycles, the instrument beeps until both the start and extra buttons are pressed simultaneously. If an additional mixing sequence is needed, the “extra” button can be pressed, and the instrument will repeat the previous mixing cycle. The extra sequence time can also be adjusted.

The instrument includes an easy-to-read LCD display, allowing users to monitor the timer status of each mixing cycle. With our instrument, the mixing of hematology control tubes is both standardized and efficient.

The instrument is powered by a 9V, 4.5A external power source, ensuring consistent and reliable operation.
